Active Transportation Leadership Retreat

March 3 - 4, 2018 - Washington, DC

As part of the League's new Active Transportation Leadership Institute, the Leadership Retreat will bring together leaders from city and state-wide advocacy organizations for networking and workshops aimed at increasing capacity and effectiveness, and mapping out a plan for better collaboration between local, state, and national groups.

How to Register:

The Leadership Retreat is specifically designed for staff of advocacy organizations so you must sign up using your League organizational membership number.  

Cost is $100, and pre-registration is required through the 2018 National Bike Summit Registration Form

If you plan to attend the 2018 National Bike Summit AND the Leadership Retreat, please select either the "Organizational Member" or the "Individual Member" Registration Type on the Summit registration form, and you will have the option to add the Leadership Retreat to your 2018 Summit Registration. 

If you are only able to attend the Leadership Retreat and will not be joining us for the full 2018 National Bike Summit, please select the "Active Transportation Leadership Institute Retreat Only" Registration Type to only register for the Leadership Retreat. 

What to Expect:

We’ll be kicking off Saturday, March 3rd in the late afternoon with an optional bike ride and evening reception with plenty of time to connect with your peers from around the country over food and drinks.

Here’s a snapshot agenda for Sunday March 4th (9am-4:30pm)

Morning

  • Workshops for city organizations, state organizations, and various program leaders

  • Unconference-inspired networking on topics chosen by you

Lunch

  • Presentations including recent survey research, the Bicycle Friendly Community program, and more

Afternoon

  • Facilitated Strategic Planning for the Movement: Developing a roadmap for city, state, and national groups to work together more effectively

Directly following the Leadership Retreat everyone is invited to the League's Annual Member Meeting starting at 5pm at the Renaissance Hotel DC, 999 Ninth St NW Washington, DC

The National Bike Summit will also feature organizational development sessions of interest to state and local group staff in addition to great programming to improve bicycling advocacy and education at the local, state, and, of course, federal levels.
